 Drum Roll Please~~~ The Honorary Chairperson for the 9th Annual Universal Music Day October 10, 2015

Ron Modell Founded the Northern Illinois University Jazz Band. Ron played with all the Music Greats of that era!

Quincy Jones describes Ron Modell as an outstanding trumpet player — a superlative Musician and suggests that his proudest accomplishments would be his commitment to his work as an Educator.

He was First Chair in two symphony orchestras, played with the Music Greats like Dizzy Gillespie, James Moody, Clark Terry, Louie Bellson, Tony Bennett, Mel Torme, Mario Bauza and Machito, “Pops”, Louis Armstrong, Doc Cheatham, Bobby Tucker, the arranger for Billie Holiday & Billy Eckstin, “Jake” Don Jacoby, Stan Kenton, and at his last concert at NIU Ron was honored by~~Duke Ellington.

Thank you Maestro for your decades of dedication to Music, Music-Making, Musicians and Music Education. We are so blessed by your presence as the Honorary Chairperson for Universal Music Day.

Our fervent desire is that over the coming decades Universal Music Day instills that same passion and LOVE of Music that you have offered the World!

Universal Music Day speaks to everyone and especially to the 80% of the population who only “wish” they made Music. Let us include everyone, from tone-deaf to pro in this glorious process and demonstrate the Power of Music-Making. Music is just too important to our health and well-being to leave only to the professional Musicians and Super-stars.

* Music-Making nourishes our souls.

* Music-Making helps us deal with the whole continuum of human emotions.

    Music is the highest expression of the human spirit~plus it feels good when you do it!
    Take time every day to sing or play an instrument, or listen to music which you find
    inspiring & uplifting~And remember~If we all sang the same note, there could be no harmony!
